Ripley and Maisie at 4 months

It's been over 4 months since the pups were born and it seems like years ago! As you all know, we've also welcomed a baby into the family since then. I wanted to update this with a few photos of Ripley (we called him Patch when we had the entire litter).

Ripley is settling in. It has been an interesting couple of months. As you all know by now if you didn't prior to picking up your pup, they are a lot of work! Thank goodness the are so cute! We've been through puppyhood before but Ripley has posed different challenges than Maisie did as a pup. He LOVES to harass Maisie so we have to separate them to give "old" Maisie a break. He took a bit longer to house-break than Maisie, although he only ever had trouble holding his bladder, which is better than the alternative! And he hasn't had an accident on the carpet in a month.

At about 4.5 months, we are training him to walk on a leash and he heels quite well. He will sit, stay and come when he is called, although he only listens to "Here!" when we are having obedience sessions and he is focused. Enjoy the pictures and if any of you puppy owners send us pictures of your pups, we'll post them here for all to see.

Ripley at about 8-9 weeks, shortly after his litter-mates left!
The two trouble-makers. Ripley is about 12 weeks old here:
Ripley is about as close as he's ever been to Baby Tess, just long enough for a picture, he is 4 months here:
These were taken just this week, at about 4.5 months:

Maisie's pups have arrived

Nine pups in all were born over night last night, 5 females and 4 males! Here is a picture of all 9 and as you can see, they range in color and size pretty dramatically! The largest male and smallest female are laying side by side at the left- pretty cute!

There are 3 females and 2 males spoken for so 2 females and 2 males are up for grabs! We will now take deposits on them; first come first serve! $100 reserves your pick and the remaining $400 is due when you pick them up (approximately May 13th).

Maisie's place

Here is a recent picture of Maisie sitting on her place. I would highly recommend that everyone build and utilize one of these regularly. It is great exercise for the mind and keeps her in one place when needed!

A gorgeous January day

Maisie got to spend some time today fetching her duck. Here is a video of the fun. As you can see she gets very excited but still manages to listen pretty well!

Inside the house we call her Lazy Maisie

When she's inside the house, she is one of the calmest Labs I've ever met. She's definitely affectionate, a perfect family dog!

Maisie on the hunt

Maisie is shown here pointing pheasant at a game farm. She has always been incredibly excited around birds, hence her AKC registered name: MJ's Bird Crazy Maisie. When she was a young pup we took her walking through fields to give her experience running through cover and she ran like she was trying to find birds from day one. We sent her to gun dog training where she had more exposure to birds than we could give her. A nice byproduct of the training was that she learned to sit on her "place" which she still does to this day.
